Graphite/Metal Composites For Heat Sink Applications

The development of thermal management is a sector in growth for power electronic devices. Nowadays the inability to efficiently remove heat from these devices has become a principal barrier to extending the voltage and current handling capabilities of new generation of modules in powerelectronics, optoelectronics and microelectronics (Klett, 2000). The use of engineered metal matrix composites and other high performance packaging materials provides the potential to mitigate existing thermal limitations significantly.
